Website not getting leads: why it happens

A website not getting leads usually fails at one of three points: people don’t find it on Google, visitors can’t quickly see why to call, or enquiries arrive and nobody can tell where they came from. Bigfoot Web Solutions, a Melbourne web design agency, tracks every phone tap and form enquiry on the sites it builds, from launch.

The three need different fixes, and only the second is a design problem. A new website won’t help if Google isn’t showing the current one, or if enquiries are already arriving but being mistakenly attributed to word of mouth.

Why a good-looking website gets no leads

A page Google hasn’t indexed can’t come up in a search, however well it’s written. And when people do reach the site but the phone still doesn’t ring, the site is losing them between the search and the call.

Speed on a phone is part of that. Google’s Core Web Vitals rate a page as good when its main content loads within 2.5 seconds, it responds to a tap within 200 milliseconds, and its layout barely moves while loading, for at least three in four page loads.

A site can also bring in work that nobody connects to it. Someone finds you on Google, rings the number on your contact page, and gets written down as a referral. Without tracking, the website’s leads read as zero even when they aren’t.

A contact form can stop sending, too, or its emails can start landing in spam, and nobody notices until a customer mentions they never heard back.

Do I need a new website to get more leads?

Not always. If the site isn’t being found, the fix is search work, not a new design. If enquiries are arriving uncounted, the fix is tracking. Neither needs a rebuild, and if you need enquiries while search work takes hold, SEO or Google Ads sets out what ads can carry in the meantime.

A rebuild is the better spend when the site itself is the problem and an edit can’t fix it: it’s slow on phones because of how it was built, or you can’t change your own phone number without paying someone. What website design costs in Melbourne sets out the ranges and what moves them.

Every website we design in Melbourne launches with call and form tracking in place, and the domain, website admin, Google Analytics, Search Console and Business Profile are in your name on final payment.

A website not getting leads usually has one of those three causes, and only one of them needs a new design. Book a 30-minute call and Bigfoot Web Solutions will give you an honest view on whether a rebuild is what you need or whether fixing what you have would serve you better.
